Summary:

"I am a 'young' scientist and have published just a few papers in collaboration with my PhD supervisor. Having protistology data it's logical to publish in *Protist* and *European Journal of Protistology*. My novel data that I have gained in the four years of my PhD-work is suited to these journals but later on I might decide to place my work in a more general place for a  more general reader-ship, but it totally depends on the work being described. I would, however, prefer that my data be open access so that everyone can read my work and marvel at my beautiful data. ;) Whilst Elsevier are catching up with the openaccess wave, I wanted to find out and write about what 'hoops' we have to jump to through to submit to Online OA Journals because they should be quicker, right? The submission process for Elsevier, the only submission process I am familiar with, seems fairly modern and straightforward..."
