Summary:

"This presentation will share information about an Operational Project from the University of Manchester Library that was designed to support the implementation of UKRI’s Open Access Policy for Long-Form Research Publications by developing a strategic framework for evaluating and supporting alternative funding models for Open Access monographs. This project aimed to ensure a purposeful and holistic approach to supporting ‘non-BPC’ models for funding OA monographs and their associated infrastructure, such as open metadata, and open dissemination and preservation systems, in order to connect the Library’s altruistic aspirations in support of Open Research and bibliodiversity with realistic and affordable strategic actions.

The focus of the presentation is on the outputs of Work Package 4 of the project: the Library’s ‘Strategic Framework for the Acquisition of OA Monographs,’ and its ‘Assessment Criteria for Supporting Collective Funding Models for OA Monographs and Open Infrastructure.’
