AUPresses Reaffirms Principles of the Coalition for Diversity and Inclusion in Scholarly Publishing  - Association of University Presses

"The Board of Directors [of AUPresses] voted at its spring 2025 meeting to reaffirm the Association’s commitment to the principles and mission of the Coalition for Diversity and Inclusion in Scholarly Communications (C4DISC), of which AUPresses is a founding member. As a community and with others in C4DISC, we aim to build a socially just community that welcomes, values, and celebrates all who contribute to scholarly communications.

We are discouraged that the very words “equity” and “inclusion,” along with too many others, are currently being miscast, even made illegal, and we resolve to continue articulating why these words and the concepts they represent are essential to ensuring academic excellence and the cultivation of knowledge. Even as language and expression are constrained for many institutions and individuals, we know that the rigor and commitment of university presses to their purpose as stewards of scholarship will continue to bring greater understanding to the world, now and in the future."
