Summary:
Abstract: University journals (UJs) represent a structurally underrecognised segment of the scholarly publishing ecosystem. In this study, UJs are defined as scholarly periodicals published or managed by higher education institutions (HEIs). The category encompasses a wide range of organizational models: journals may be issued by university presses, libraries, departments, or published in collaboration i.e. with learned societies and commercial publishers, while maintaining institutional ownership.
