Summary:
"Do you want to learn more about what it’s like to publish an open access (OA) book? Watch the recording of this free online event, which brings together researchers funded by the European Research Council (ERC) to talk about their experiences with OA book publishing.
Authors and series editors from different academic disciplines who have published OA books describe the decisions they made, the routes they navigated and reflect on their experiences, including: the challenges involved, the significance of OA for their work, and whether their knowledge of OA (or to publishing) changed during the process. Our speakers are:
- Kristien Hens (University of Antwerp): PI of the ERC Starting Grant project NeuroEpigenEthics and the author and editor of OA books with Open Book Publishers, Bloomsbury and Bristol University Press;
- Daniel Miller (UCL): PI of the ERC Advanced Grant project SmartPhoneSmartAging and editor of the OA book series ‘Ageing with Smartphones’ published by UCL Press;
- Ioana Feodorov (Institute for South-East European Studies of the Romanian Academy in Bucharest): PI of the ERC Advanced Grant project TYPARABIC (Early Arabic Printing for the Arab Christians. Cultural Transfers between Eastern Europe and the Ottoman Near-East in the 18th century), and editor of the OA book series ‘Early Arabic Printing in the East’ published by De Gruyter Brill.
We are grateful for the kind support of the ERC Executive Agency in organising this event."
