Project MUSE - Editorial Statement in Response to US Policies on Scientific Research and Publishing

"In January 2025 the new Administration began issuing executive orders to limit the scope of scientific research, to limit or restrict the publication of scientific research that focuses on topics the administration deems no longer of priority, and to ban the use of certain terms on government websites and in manuscripts submitted to scientific journals. Progress in Community Health Partnerships (PCHP) condemns these attempts to interfere with or censor scientific research and publication and will make no changes to our editorial policies. As the first scholarly journal dedicated to community-based participatory research, an approach to research that centers the voices of diverse populations most affected by a problem or issue, PCHP remains dedicated to our mission of publishing scientifically rigorous, community-engaged research that combines knowledge with action for social change and social justice. PCHP will continue to encourage the use of language that is scientifically accurate, respectful, and inclusive, while promoting research that equitably involves all members of a community to stimulate action for improved health of people in the United States, North America, and throughout the world."
