Summary:

"In 2024, Science partnered with the company DataSeer to determine the extent to which research papers share data and code....

DataSeer used its Open Science Metrics tool to quantify data and code sharing in 2680 articles (across all disciplines) published in Science between 2021 and 2024 (see the dataset). All papers had a data availability statement (which tells readers whether and where data associated with a paper are available); 69% of papers shared data online or in the supplementary materials section of the paper (6% of papers had no data generated and no data shared); and 23% of papers shared code (46% of papers did not generate or share code)....

Science is encouraged by its performance, but there is room to improve. To this end, the journal will take two steps in 2026...."
