Next-Gen Repositories: AI-Enhanced Tools for Open Access and Scholarly Communication

Abstract:  The emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has revolutionized the management, accessibility, and dissemination of scholarly communication. Traditional digital repositories, which once served primarily as static archives, are rapidly transforming into dynamic, intelligent systems driven by automation, semantic analysis, and machine learning. This paper explores the integration of AI technologies in next-generation repositories, focusing on their role in strengthening open access (OA), improving discoverability, enhancing metadata quality, and facilitating knowledge sharing among researchers and institutions. The study further discusses challenges related to data ethics, interoperability, and the digital divide, while highlighting the future potential of AI-driven repositories as integral components of global research infrastructures.
