Summary:
"Lyrasis, the Big Ten Academic Alliance’s Center for Library Programs, and the California Digital Library are leading the Mapping U.S. Diamond Open Access Journals project, funded by the Gates Foundation. This study will be the first national mapping of Diamond Open Access (OA) publishing in the United States. Diamond OA journals are peer-reviewed, free for both authors and readers, and operate without commercial profit motives. The project will illuminate the decentralized U.S. Diamond OA landscape, identify key challenges, and produce actionable recommendations to support sustainable, community-governed scholarly publishing. The project is led by Principal Investigator Sharla Lair (Senior Strategist, Open Access & Scholarly Communication Initiatives, Lyrasis), with Co-Principal Investigators Kate McCready (Program Director for Open Publishing, Big Ten Academic Alliance) and Catherine Mitchell (Director of Publishing, Archives, and Digitization, California Digital Library)."
