Summary:

"Quarter # 1: November 2025 – January 2026

We are pleased to share updates from the U.S. Diamond Open Access Stakeholder Engagement and Landscape Assessment, a national project led by a collaborative team from Lyrasis, the Big Ten Academic Alliance, and the California Digital Library, with support from the Gates Foundation. The project is led by Principal Investigator Sharla Lair (Senior Strategist, Open Access & Scholarly Communication Initiatives, Lyrasis), with Co-Principal Investigators Kate McCready (Program Director for Open Publishing, Big Ten Academic Alliance) and Catherine Mitchell (Director of Publishing, Archives, and Digitization, California Digital Library).

This quarter focused on establishing the project’s foundations, including governance, advisory engagement, and early research design. A key next step is the national survey of U.S.-based Diamond Open Access publishers and stakeholders. The survey is currently under revision based on advisory input and will be released in the next few weeks. We encourage you to get ready to participate (and to share the survey widely within your networks once it launches) to help ensure this study reflects the full diversity of Diamond Open Access activity across the United States."
