Summary:
From Google's English: The IDAHO project focused on identifying barriers and hurdles faced by researchers with weak institutional affiliation (FSIA) in the context of Open Access publishing, and on outlining ways to eliminate or mitigate them. To this end, a mixed-methods study was conducted to investigate which barriers and hurdles these FSIA perceive themselves, and to what extent these factors influence their Open Access publishing activities. Furthermore, the study sought to determine whether—and how—journals perceive these barriers and obstacles, and how they might be effectively addressed.
This objective was pursued by addressing the following research questions:
What barriers and hurdles do FSIA experience during the Open Access publication process?
What do the operators of Open Access journals know about these barriers and hurdles?
How do Open Access journals influence these barriers and hurdles? What measures can they take to foster an inclusive, equitable, and diverse Open Access culture?
By answering these questions, the project aimed to provide an evidence base for the scholarly and practical discourse surrounding the barriers faced by FSIA.
