Only this abstract is OA: "The biomedical research enterprise faces the challenges of decreasing efficiency, escalating costs, and increasing complexity, resulting in reduced return on investment. Scientific problem solving can be facilitated by sharing data and knowledge; however, stakeholders are incentivized to value ownership over collaboration. Collaboration should recognize common goals yet embrace the unique value and interests of each partner. Thoughtful data and knowledge stewardship builds a culture of trust and transparency that has potential to improve success rates of biomedical research."
