The move to open access and growth: experience from Journal of Hymenoptera Research

"The Journal of Hymenoptera Research (JHR) is published by the International Society of Hymenopterists. It is devoted to the study of all aspects of Hymenoptera and covers a broad range of research disciplines, including biology, morphology, behaviour, ecology, genetics, systematics and taxonomy. The journal was launched in 1992 and for most of its existence was published as two issues per annual volume. In 2011, after publication of 19 volumes, the Society decided to move from restricted to open access, with Pensoft as a publisher.
