Developing A Culture of Respect: Intellectual Property on the Web

"The very opposite of what corporations and lawmakers would like could be the outcome of this treaty [ACTA] if it passes. By policing commercial and private content, they push people into the sectors of free and publicly created content on the Web. It could massively shift user focus to creating content, rather than paying to consume it. In this open-access forum of sharing, mixing and publication, we could abolish digital locks on content and create a new culture of respect between artists. An acknowledgment of influences via links, text comments and photos could arise. We could see the evolution into a golden age of cultural and artistic expression...."
