"This year's symposium will focus on the response and recovery from Hurricane Sandy which wreaked havoc along the east coast. Hurricane Sandy's path of destruction knocked out power, damaged buildings, forced people out of their homes, and impacted critical infrastructure in several states. Hurricane Sandy also forced the evacuation and closure of several hospitals and nursing homes; destroyed decades of research; and exacerbated an already overwhelmed health care system. Our speakers will provide a unique perspective on the challenges they face from a number of points of view."
