President Raynard Kington was one of 19 prominent Iowans invited to relect on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s historic "I have a dream" speech.

"This beautiful speech," he said, "is the definitive articulation both of the demands of the African-American community for full citizenship in this country and of the aspirations of our entire society for the assurance of basic civil rights for all. Today, it reminds us how far we have come and how much work remains to be done. I keep a copy of the speech in my office — as the descendant of slaves, I find my faith in the potential of this great country, with all of its flaws, restored whenever I read it."
