New York City Psychometrics Group

Betsy McCoach and her colleagues and students at Fordham University do a great job at organizing talks, socials, and conferences around psychometrics, extending more generally to sociometric and econometrics. They organize these events through the New York Psychometrics Group.

Mitzi and I taught a Stan class at their Modern Modeling Methods conference this year. It had a huge and diverse turnout of interesting Xmetricians, including some really special invited speakers, such as Ken Bollen, who just updated his classic textbook, Elements of Structural Equation Models (it’s the BDA2 of SEM for the regular readers). The conference was also extremely well organized (thanks, Betsy and volunteers!). Plus, pretty much everyone was working from an applied Bayesian perspective, making it a lot like talking to people at StanCon.

• December 11, 2026 (Friday) 5:00pm. NYU Kimball Hall. Invited Lecture by Ben Domingue, with conversation, beverages, and leisure to follow
