How are you going to celebrate World Backup Day?
ProfHacker 2018-03-26

March 31 is World Backup Day, an annual event designed to “raise awareness about backups and data preservation.” As their slogan says:
Don’t Be an April Fool. Be prepared. Back up your files on March 31st.
Hard drives fail. Flood, fire, and storm damage can wreck your office. Human beings make mistakes. For all these reasons, you need data backup.
If you don’t already have a comprehensive and secure backup plan in place, now is a good time to create one. We’ve written before at Profhacker about the benefits of cloud-based backup. A number of good providers offer personal backup solutions at about $6 a month, including:
In the past, many of these providers have offered special promotions on World Backup Day, so it’s worth checking their websites on or near March 31st. As I wrote in Back Up for Back to School, “it’s better to just pick a plan and start backing up your important files and photos than be the guy who runs into a burning building to get his laptop.”
If you want to use World Backup Day as an opportunity to talk to your students or colleagues about the importance of backup and data archiving more generally, they have a poster and flyers available to download.
