Games and education: you’re invited to a review
Bryan Alexander 2013-06-24
What do computer games have to offer education? Academic Commons has just published a group of articles exploring the topic, called Games in Education. Yours truly authored this one on using games to glimpse the future of education, but I commend each of them to you:
- Learning (together) with games – Civilization and Empire
- This Is Not a Game (It’s a Class): Lessons Learned From An In-Class Alternate Reality Game (ARG)
- Taking Games in Libraries Seriously
- Games in Education May Never Be Mainstream
There’s a fascinating aspect to this beyond the subject’s intrinsic interest. AC founder Mike Roy published these articles through CommentPress, in order to invite everyone’ commentary. It’s a form of peer review, where anyone gets to play peer. So please join in. Annotate, reflect, response, harrumph, disagree, celebrate!
