Buy the eBook and Support a STEM Project

Education Rethink 2013-12-20

I'm a big fan of William Chamberlain as a blogger, thinker and teacher. It's one thing to say that you support STEM or project-based learning. It's another thing to make it a part of your classroom practice. William does this in a way that is humble and transparent. It's for this reason that we are donating all of the ebook profits(from now until next Friday) for Wendell the World's Worst Wizard to a cool, maker-oriented, STEM-based project that his class is doing. The Kindle version is on sale for $4.99 (a dollar less than the retail price). I'm pretty sure that Wendell, being a maker and being into robotics, would love being a part of William's class project. So, if you want to help a classroom while also reading an exciting, funny book about a non-magical wizard who is into robotics, go download the book. Here's an excerpt about the project
My students have lots of opportunities to create art using traditional methods. In my social studies classes we have made prints, paintings, and even pen and ink drawings. So much art, design and engineering now is done by computer, they need that opportunity too.
My students are amazing! We live in an area of high poverty with over 90% of my students qualifying for free and reduced lunches. We are also over 60% minority and include students from over a dozen different countries.
This year my students have made some amazing art in my social studies class to represent their learning. They love to explore different ways that aren't traditionally used to show learning.
