Sibelius 8: marquee selection broken

In previous versions of Sibelius, one could perform a marquee (or lasso) selection of multiple objects, by Shift-dragging (Windows) or Command-dragging (Mac) a rectangular box around them. In Sibelius 8.0.0, marquee selection does not work, except for the sub-case of a passage-selection when the marquee includes a complete staff. Selections of all other types of object do not work.
