Flipping Flagged Stems in Multi-voices Staves

New Ideas : Sibelius Feedback Community 2015-10-13

Summary:

Often, there is a need to notate two voices in octaves. In many passages, this may require both simple (unflagged quarter, half) notes as well as flagged notes (eigths, etc.) that have flags or beams. Making the simple note appear correctly with all stems in the same direction is easy, just flip one of the stems. But, when trying this with flagged or beamed stems, there is no clean way to do it - the measure is already in multiple voices, the voices may have their own phrasing, etc. I'd like to see an easy way to flip flagged or beamed note stems so that they match their partners above or below. Perhaps an "Option-Flip" that aligns the flags and beams correctly, This would speed up notation considerably and eliminate the need to fiddle with strange trickery to make the notes appear correct and stay within their assigned voices.
