Ties for arpeggiated chords

New Ideas : Sibelius Feedback Community 2016-02-25

Summary:

Currently, Sibelius does not allow you to create ties between notes in an arpeggiated chord to the blocked chord except manually. This is shown in the first attachment below, which is an excerpt from the Sibelius Reference Guide. To create ties, you must manually adjust them. However, when the score is changed, Sibelius will not automatically resize or move them magnetically. Arpeggiated chords are used considerably in piano and harp music, particularly when written in an Impressionistic style. This is a major setback from Sibelius that requires a lot of manual work. As far as I can tell, no other notation software on the market can do this yet. It would be a major win for Sibelius to be the first one to accomplish this. In short, Sibelius needs to permit ties between notes, which are not consecutive or adjacent, and magnetically move them with the score. The best Sibelius can do right now with magnetic ties for arpeggiated chords is shown in the second attachment below.
