Bug fix-only build
New Ideas : Sibelius Feedback Community 2016-07-01
Summary:
Avid/Sibelius should focus at least one full build on doing nothing but fixing bugs. There are actual bugs, not feature requests, that have existed for years that are just ignored. I don't know if Sibelius' developers just don't know how to fix them or they just don't care, but a single build of nothing but bug fixes would go a long way toward showing us they actually have a great handle on the code and what needs done to fix things. Case in point, 02918580 was opened to address the bug where if the user keeps his/her Task Bar at the top of a Windows display and has it set to "auto hide", when Sibelius is full screen there is NO access to the Task Bar. This is easily replicated on every machine I've ever tired it on going back to at least 7.5, but I believe 7.0 or 7.1 as well. Tickets have been raised, Sibelius admits it's a bug (actually, they had to write code to block access to the top of the screen since that's part of the Windows API, or so I'm told by programmer friends of mine, so this is more of negligent code making it a design bug not a mistake in code). The _ □ and x in the upper right hand corner also don't work if the Task Bar is up top which also tells me this is specific code that was written to deny access to default Windows APIs.
