Please lose Java dependency

While I recognize the value of having a common API for the Avid license manager across Windows and Mac, there are multiple problems with how Avid chooses to use Java: 1. the package is installed without the user's express knowledge separate from any preexisting Java package. This creates possible versioning conflicts on the system. 2. the version installed by the Avid installer is (currently) a full version out of date, effectively reducing the customer's security state - without their knowledge. 3. the version installed by Avid is not subject to the update process provided by Oracle for end-user installations of JRE, further impacting the user's security state. Frankly, given the Avid dev team's demonstrated ability to write native code for Windows and OS X, this dependency on JRE for a secondary application smacks of a lazy, "hurry up and ship it!" mentality.
