Why doesn't a new score use \$title\ and other macros?

When creating a new score, you get the opportunity to specify backstage info like title, composer, etc. But then the score that is created has these values hard-coded into the text in the score. It should instead be using the standard macros like \$title\ and \$composer\. I end up having to replace these with every score, which doesn't make any sense.
