Well chords are pretty easy with me. And you can just use the rest block. AND you can also control timing. But you have got a point about visualisation. But lets just say Scratch isn't the best program for music composing. BUT i am still using it for music.
Usually, “making music” doesn't just mean for use in Scratch projects. There's no way to use this in other things, besides recording. Chords requires a lot of broadcasts, which gets tiring. Also, with a true music making software, you can play it from the middle of the song, etc.
