"Purpose

This Librarian serves library users by helping them navigate the various research metrics associated with their field and by helping users to enhance their digital identity. This position supports the libraries strategic imperative resonance, which seeks to accelerate the recognition and use of UTA scholarship and creative works.

Essential Functions

1. Scholarly Impact and Digital Identity a. Outreaches to and advocates for faculty and graduate students on different tools to enhance their digital identity, such as unique scholarly identifiers, institutional repositories, blogs, and academic social networks b. Consults with faculty on the research metrics associated with their scholarship and on research metrics platforms like plumx c. Constructs data visualizations to display faculty research metrics d. Assesses the campus climate around altmetrics and other new research metrics 2. Subject librarian services a. Provides research assistance and instruction in locating and evaluating information in a variety of formats. b. Develops and maintains online teaching materials and guides and participates in digital learning initiatives c. Promotes Libraries' services and resources in collaboration with the Libraries' Marketing Department d. Assesses collection development needs of assigned discipline areas 3. Scholarly Communication a. Develops and maintains tools, resources, and education programs to increase awareness of scholarly communication issues b. Outreaches to and advocates for faculty and students to publish in open-access venues. [...] "
