Summary:

"On March 4th, activists around the world invite you to the International Open Data Day .

In more than one hundred cities, workshops, hackathons and events about open data are organized by the community and all interested parties are invited. As always, the Open Knowledge Labs are represented, this year with impressive 20 events in 19 cities! We are very happy to be so broad this year. There are also three new entries, in Heidelberg , Erfurt and Schwerin - welcome on board!

This year, OK Labs will be presenting a diverse program with a wide range of topics:

  • In Heilbronn , the newly appointed Open Data commissioner from the city is involved in the opening process, and fine dust sensors from Stuttgart are being built.
  • A cooperation with the Citizen Science project Hack Your City is taking place in Cologne .
  • The city of Jena is the official organizer of the OpenDataDay this year, we are looking forward to this progress and success of the OK Lab in Jena .
  • In Bonn, the Open Data Day will be held under the motto 'Construction with Open Data' - there will be a calliope workshop , bots will be built, and the topic of sustainability will be handled by Open Data.
  • In Berlin , speakers were invited for exciting lectures, including the Geoportal of the City, OpenStreetMap and Wikidata (<3). The Open Data Day in Berlin is supported by Wikimedia Deutschland eV
  • In Hamburg , an all-day event will take place on Friday, the 'Forum Open City' together with the Körber Foundation. We wrote a blog post last week .

This is, of course, only a small excerpt, look at the long list of events and visit a lab near you! We wish all Labs a wonderful Open Data Day. Follow the Hashtag # ODD17 on Twitter to see what happens in the Labs and around the world on March 4th."
