Hypophosphatasia (HPP) is an inherited error-of-metabolism caused by loss-of-function mutations in ALPL-encoded tissue-nonspecific alkaline phosphatase (TNAP). HPP has wide-ranging severity, including a clinical subtype called odontohypophosphatasia (odonto HPP), which selectively affects craniofacial structures.
