1944 - We found my grandpa on Netflix’s ‘WW2 In Color: Battle of the Bulge’ and started crying

We found my gpa on Netflix’s WWll in Color: Battle of the Bulge

That is my grandpa! What are the odds in all the world!!!

My grandpa was captured at the Battle of the Bulge & was a prisoner of war in WW2. He saw unspeakable things that troubled him for the rest of his life. By a miracle, he escaped the prison along with a few others and met up at a rendezvous point getting him safely home. He saw so much bloodshed and devastation at such a young age that when he came home, he became a funeral home director for all of eastern WA. He retired on 200 acres of land, owned tons of cows & horses and had 9 kids including my mom.

We loved him sooooo much and called him the “tickle monster” growing up because he always used to tickle us til we fell over & started crying. LOL.

Love you soooo much grandpa. I’m so glad Netflix found this footage! My whole family started screaming when we saw it and then tears and phone calls to the rest of our family ensued.

Love you grandpa!

And thank you so much Netflix for finding this unbelievably rare footage!!! We all loved it SOOO much!
