Third Annual LyrOpen Fair to be held virtually in April 2024 - register here!

The third annual LyrOpen Fair will be held virtually in April 2024, with five webinars exploring the open research and scholarship ecosystem — an introductory session followed by four sessions, each dedicated to different aspects of open. Presentations feature a variety of speakers. Detailed information about each session, including registration, is available below. Any of the five sessions are available for free to all interested parties, and session recordings, presentations and key takeaways will be available after each session. Session 1: Open Research & Scholarship Landscape Tuesday, April 9, 2024, 2 - 3 p.m. EST

In this introductory session, Lyrasis team members will offer an exploration of the open research and scholarship landscape, including discussions and key components of open access, open source and open infrastructure. Team members will describe how different areas of open intersect, and discuss specific initiatives and partnerships.

Session 2: More Than Infrastructure: Getting to know DOAB, OAPEN Library and DOAJ Thursday, April 11, 2024, 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. EST

You might have heard of and even use the Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB), OAPEN Library and the Directory of Open Access Journals. But did you know that the organizations behind these infrastructures are incredibly impactful and positive influencers in the scholarly communication landscape? In this webinar, the leaders of DOAB, OAPEN Library and DOAJ will engage in a high-level conversation about what role these infrastructures play in the global open scholarly communication ecosystem. Participants will learn why these infrastructures are growing as trusted vetting mechanisms, advancing publishing best practices and empowering communities across a diverse array of stakeholders to transform their cultures to be more open and inclusive.

Session 3: Open Institutional Repository Usage Statistics (IRUS) Thursday, April 18, 2024, 3 - 4 p.m. EST

For those interested in institutional repositories and assessment of institutional research and scholarship activity, this session will bring together a panel of experts using IRUS (Institutional Repository Usage Statistics) to obtain openly available standardized usage statistics for item and platform level views and downloads. We will discuss the benefits of open usage stats, as well as broader challenges such as understanding whether, how, and where repository materials are used or referenced after they are viewed or downloaded.

Session 4:  Successes In Open Access and Open Research Services Tuesday, April 23, 2024, 1 - 2 p.m. EST

This session will highlight key points during the past ten years of Lyrasis’ engagement with Open Access and Open Research Services initiatives. Christy Urquieta Cortes and Celeste Feather will present on the programmatic growth and increasing engagement by US institutions. US Representatives from the SCOAP3 Governing Council will mark the 10th anniversary of SCOAP3 and share updates on the accomplishments of that program, followed by a presentation from Annual Reviews on the successes of their Subscribe to Open (S2O) program after a five year partnership with Lyrasis.
