Common(s) Causes • Mapping the playing field | OKFN @ Kumu

Summary:

This visualization is the result of a collective mapping exercise carried out during the event Common(s) Cause: Towards a Shared Advocacy Strategy for the Knowledge Commons, parallel to Wikimania 2024, in Katowice, Poland. The event brought together 55+ participants from 20 countries and was organized by Creative Commons, Open Knowledge Foundation, Open Future, and Wikimedia Europe in collaboration with the Wikimedia Foundation.

The exercise structure was built around the threats and opportunities facing the open movement.

In the map, the red circles indicate threats, while the green ones speak to opportunities—all linked to the bigger themes defined later by the event organizers. Each point on the map refers to an individual contribution shared when we divided into groups.
