The position at a glance (English via deepl.com) The position involves various activities to promote Open Access at Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin. The tasks include:

  • Organisation and administration of Open Access funding for Charité members (via the Publication Fund, on the basis of publishing agreements and through secondary publication)
  • Advising Charité members on legal, organisational and financial issues relating to electronic publishing, open access and issues of publishing integrity
  • Support in the conceptualisation and implementation of target group-oriented information and communication activities on open access topics and publication strategies
  • Support in the further development and automation of workflows for electronic publication services and monitoring
  • Carrying out bibliometric analyses and contributing to the conceptual development of the Charité Open Access Dashboard
  • Collaboration in the publication of Charité research data and development of related services
  • Supporting the further development of Charité's open research strategy together with various stakeholders
  • Collaboration in the acquisition of third-party funds and project funds (in particular DFG ‘Open Access Publication Costs’)
  • Deputising for the head of ‘Open Access / Publication Services’

Required skills

  • Successfully completed academic university degree (Master's level), preferably in the life and natural sciences
  • Training for the higher service at academic libraries or equivalent qualification in the field of information/documentation
  • Very good knowledge of Open Access principles and business models and good understanding of Open Science principles
  • Thorough knowledge of scientific publication forms and channels as well as the publication market  and the scientific landscape
  • Experience in carrying out bibliometric analyses
  • Knowledge of bibliometric methods as well as target group-specific presentation and evaluation
  • Strong ability to work independently, in a structured and conceptual manner as well as initiative
  • Good lecture and presentation skills as well as strong media skills
  • Sense of responsibility, strong organisational and communication skills, ability to work in a team
  • Experience in acquiring third-party funding and/or applying for scientific projects is an advantage
  • Willingness to participate in further training and conferences, also abroad
  • Very good written and spoken German and English skills
