This multidisciplinary event will bring together African publishers, platform providers, STS scholars, and advocates of community-led knowledge infrastructures to critically examine how knowledges are assembled, shared, and made meaningful. Together, we will:
-
Explore alternative ways of relating around scholarly books, data, and infrastructures.
-
Discuss strategies to resist dominant Global North publishing norms and imagine approaches rooted in local contexts.
-
Contribute to the “Database as Book” experimental publishing project.
The workshop will feature sessions facilitated by leading voices in experimental publishing, including members of the Research Data Share Collective (Nairobi, Kenya), Janneke Adema, Rebekka Kiesewetter, and Simon Bowie (Copim’s Experimental Publishing Group), Mike Fortun (UC Irvine / PECE), and François van Schalkwyk (African Minds).
