Summary:
Approaching the conclusion of the Open Book Futures project, Copim’s Experimental Publishing Group is pleased to announce a two-day online conference on Experimental Publishing Practices. For more information and registration please see our conference website here: https://copim.pub/online-conference-practicing-experimental-books-celebrating-copims-book-pilots/
Since 2023, our group has supported three experimental book pilot projects, aligning experimental and open publishing software, tools, and practices with existing book publishing workflows, as part of the Open Book Futures project (2023–2026). In April, we will come together to celebrate these book pilots and we would love you to join us!
Event details
The conference will bring together publishers, authors, platform providers, and invited keynote speakers to reflect on current practices and possible futures for scholarly books.
Dates: Wednesday 8 – Thursday 9 April 2026
Format: Online
Registration: Link coming soon!
We will explore how these three projects have tried to challenge and experiment with the way books are commonly produced: from rethinking non-commercial publishing infrastructures as social, affective, and technological practices, to expanding editorial practices with open peer review workflows, and to “binding” books out of diverse resource materials.
