The Community-led Open Publication Infrastructures for Monographs (COPIM) project at Birkbeck – funded by Research England and the Arcadia Foundation – is looking for a Scholarly Publishing Outreach Officer. In this role, you will work with existing academic publishers to analyse their finances and to transition their business models to open access for books. You will be a key driver of change within the academic research publication environment at a crucial time and have the opportunity to be at the forefront of digital research publication. You will liaise with external publishers, confidentially examining their financial situation under conditions of non-disclosure, and undertake whatever duties are needed to transform their business models. This role is a unique opportunity to enact fundamental change in global research monograph publication for the public good aof education.

In order to be successful in this role, you will have demonstrable knowledge of economic models in and a proven track record in publishing. You will also be a diplomat, skilled at negotiating the difficult politics and landscapes of publisher business models. You will be a strong communicator and writer who can inspire confidence in a range of external businesses.
