Summary:

We seek an assistant program manager who, working closely with the project lead, will support the development of new program offerings, lead trainings on open education practices, engage a team of faculty facilitators, and provide related sales and administrative support. We are looking for someone who has experience in community management, familiarity with open education, and is at ease collaborating with groups of facilitators, participants, and open advocates to ensure smooth programming. The ideal candidate will possess some institutional experience (for example as a librarian or  an instructional designer), and must be comfortable representing Rebus across a variety of public-facing avenues. We are looking for an organized and focused individual, ready to coordinate with a small team of passionate, mission-driven people.This is a new role, so there is a great opportunity to shape and grow the position. 

Responsibilities

This role has split time between program delivery, new program development, and related operational and marketing responsibilities.

Textbook Success Program (TSP)

The TSP is a year long course that develops OER leads as project managers and faculty as creators of Open Textbooks. In this role, you will:

  • Assist the project lead to ensure the smooth running of the Textbook Success Program
  • Oversee a small and growing team of external faculty (and program alumni) who partner to facilitate program offerings
  • Support the development of faculty training
  • Coordinate with program participants to answer questions, resolve issues

New programming

We are continually developing new courses, services, and resources to support the creation, adoption, and use of OER. Working with the project lead, you will:

  • Develop new resources, courses, and modules 
  • Conduct research and assess new funding opportunities 
  • Assess project viability in light of potential revenue streams
  • Lead trainings on topics related to OER, open education practices, and open publishing

Operations and marketing

As a small team, the success of the TSP and our other programming depends on sharing responsibility across operations and marketing tasks. Working with the project lead, you will:

  • Prepare and present marketing materials and reports relating to programs and participants
  • Provide input on marketing & sales strategies to the project lead
  • Prepare contracts and invoices for Rebus Community’s services
  • Perform other administrative tasks
  • Coordinate with members of teams from other Rebus Foundation projects to share resources when necessary

At a rapidly evolving and responsive organization, work may change and other duties may be assigned.

About you

Required skills and experience:

  • You have at least 2 years of community management, program management, or relevant experience/certification
  • You have a strong public service orientation with the ability to interact effectively with faculty, students, and others working in higher education
  • You have experience with writing guides, newsletters, or other marketing material
  • You are an excellent written and verbal communicator

  • You have knowledge of the open education field, Creative Commons licenses, open publishing, open pedagogy, and/or higher education
  • You have knowledge of inclusive design and accessibility best practices within publishing
  • You are comfortable collecting and using data to present reports and make decisions
  • You are familiar using Google Suite, Discourse, Pressbooks, Mailchimp, Adobe InDesign, and Twitter
  • You are mission-driven and fuelled to improve the educational sector

Working Hours

Rebus Foundation is headquartered in Montreal, though the team is currently remote. The successful candidate can work at headquarters once that becomes a possibility, or work remotely on a permanent basis. The role is conceived to be full-time, but given the current pressures, particularly on those with caregiving duties, we do not wish this to be a barrier to the right candidates.
