Summary:
Date: February 19, 2024, 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM

Organizers: Chair of Information Management at the Berlin School of Library and Information Science, Humboldt-University in Berlin and Helmholtz Open Science Office of the Helmholtz Association
Open infrastructures such as repositories for texts, data, and software are essential prerequisites to ensure open science. Interconnected infrastructures form the basis for a cultural shift towards openness. However, these infrastructures themselves face various challenges. Despite national and international initiatives, questions regarding funding, legal frameworks, sustainability, and governance still need to be addressed.
The virtual panel discussion within the context of the third event series "Quo vadis open science in Berlin and Brandenburg: Open Access Week 2023/24 (#OAWeekBBB)" provides a forum for discussing current issues in the operation of information infrastructures.
Experts from various fields will discuss the role and perspective of open infrastructures in promoting open science. They will explore practices in dealing with repositories, tools, and services for open science. The focus will be on the interaction between science and information infrastructure. The goal of the panel discussion is to provide a broad perspective on open infrastructures and to illuminate their role in creating digital sovereignty in science.
