Summary:

iPRES aims to strike a balance between academic endeavour and practical concerns, fostering both innovation and implementation, so that iPRES remains the premier international conference on digital preservation, where the global community of researchers and practitioners in the field come together to share and learn.

You can participate from anywhere, some events in the conference will be live streamed, many will be recorded for delayed viewing or online participation and some will only be held online.

Write a research or practice paper

Papers are full-length treatments of a subject of your choice, either original research or lessons learned in preservation practice or any combination of the two.

Submit your paper before 17 March 2024 via https://indico.cern.ch/e/ipres2024

Papers will be reviewed by your peers before the conference and you should expect revisions to be required. The final paper will be published in the proceedings and will have a DOI for citation. Also, papers are to be presented at the conference by at least one of the authors in 15 to 30 minutes, either on site in Ghent (Belgium) or online. At least one of the authors should be available for Q&A on site or online.

Present a lightning talk or poster

To showcase your use cases, software development, open learning materials or any other result that did not make it into a full paper, you can submit a short-format presentation with a hyperlink to materials available online: a poster to display onsite in Ghent (Belgium) or a timed lightning talk.

Submit your poster or lightning talk before 15 May 2024 via https://indico.cern.ch/e/ipres2024

Lightning talks and posters need to be submitted for review. There will be lightning talk sessions for in person participants and online sessions for remote participation. At least one of the contributors should be available for Q&A on site or online.

Share your development in an interactive format

The conference is a great time to engage with colleagues and learn: the bake-off turns product demos into a challenge, there are preservation games to be tried out. Also, slots are available for panels and birds of a feather sessions. We welcome tutorials (1,5 hours) and workshops (1,5 or half day) on the pre-conference day.

Submit your panel, tutorial or workshop before 17 March 2024 via https://indico.cern.ch/e/ipres2024

Submit your games, birds of a feather or demo before 15 May 2024 via https://indico.cern.ch/e/ipres2024

All proposals for interactive formats need to be submitted for review. There will be options for in person and online participation, to be discussed with the contrib
