Summary:

We are delighted to announce that [in]Transition: Journal of Videographic Film & Moving Image Studies has joined the Open Library of Humanities. The journal launched in 2014 in collaboration with Journal of Cinema and Media Studies on the MediaCommons platform, a community network run by scholars, and was the first peer-reviewed academic journal of video essays. In 2015, the journal won the Anne Friedberg Innovative Scholarship Award of Distinction from the Society for Cinema and Media Studies.

From 2024, [in]Transition will be the official video essay journal of the Society for Cinema & Media Studies. The journal and its entire back catalogue will be published by the Open Library of Humanities using our in-house publishing platform Janeway. This move has been possible thanks to the support of our more than 340 library partners that financially support the Open Library of Humanities and make diamond open access possible. The current team of academic editors and journal manager will continue to work on the 20 to 30 video articles that are published per year.
