We are glad to welcome the Fondation Maison des Sciences de l’Homme (FMSH) as a new ordinary member of the OPERAS community in 2025.
Founded in 1963, the Fondation Maison des Sciences de l’Homme (FMSH) is a public-interest foundation dedicated to advancing research in the humanities and social sciences, with the aim of shedding light on past societies, understanding contemporary worlds and anticipating future transformations. Through a wide range of programmes supporting scholarly communities, the Foundation contributes to accelerating the production and dissemination of knowledge. Each year, the FMSH supports nearly 400 researchers and provides access to more than 80,000 resources, thereby strengthening the visibility and international reach of research in the humanities and social sciences.
By joining OPERAS, the FMSH reaffirms its commitment to open scholarly communication and becomes part of a European space for dialogue alongside major research institutions, dissemination platforms and research infrastructures. This membership builds on existing collaborations, particularly in the field of audiovisual dissemination through the academic platform Canal-U, and reflects shared values such as the internationalisation of knowledge and support for its wide dissemination. At a time of rapid transformation in academic publishing, the FMSH aims to contribute its expertise to the collective development of sustainable and effective solutions at the European level.

At a time when academic publishing is undergoing rapid change, working at a European level enables constructive dialogue and the development of effective solutions for all stakeholders. The values upheld by the Foundation — the internationalisation of knowledge and support for its dissemination — together with its various activities, particularly in scientific publishing and audiovisual media, will contribute to this dialogue and help shape these solutions.”
FMSH will contribute to two Special Interest Groups: the Common Standards and FAIR Principles and the Open Access Business Models working group.

Nous sommes heureux d’accueillir la Fondation Maison des Sciences de l’Homme (FMSH) en tant que nouveau membre ordinaire de la communauté OPERAS en 2025.
Fondée en 1963, la Fondation Maison des Sciences de l’Homme (FMSH) est une fondation reconnue d’utilité publique dédiée au développement de la recherche en sciences humaines et sociales, avec pour objectif d’éclairer les sociétés du passé, de comprendre les mondes contemporains et d’anticiper les transformations à venir. À travers un large éventail de programmes de soutien aux communautés scientifiques, la Fondation contribue à accélérer la production et la diffusion des connaissances. Chaque année, la FMSH accompagne près de 400 chercheurs et donne accès à plus de 80 000 ressources, renforçant ainsi la visibilité et le rayonnement international de la recherche en sciences humaines et sociales.
En rejoignant OPERAS, la FMSH réaffirme son engagement en faveur de la communication scientifique ouverte et intègre un espace de dialogue européen aux côtés de grandes institutions de recherche, de plateformes de diffusion et d’infrastructures scientifiques. Cette adhésion s’inscrit dans la continuité de collaborations existantes, notamment dans le domaine de la diffusion audiovisuelle à travers la plateforme académique Canal-U, et reflète des valeurs partagées telles que l’internationalisation des savoirs et le soutien à leur large diffusion. À l’heure où l’édition académique connaît de profondes transformations, la FMSH entend mettre son expertise au service du développement collectif de solutions durables et efficaces à l’échelle européenne.

La FMSH contribuera au groupe d’intérêt spécial sur les normes communes et les principes FAIR.
FMSH contribuera à deux groupes d’intérêt spéciaux : “Common Standards and FAIR Principles”, et “Open Access Business Models one”.

OPERAS
OPERAS is the Research Infrastructure supporting open scholarly communication in the social sciences and humanities (SSH) in the European Research Area. Its mission is to coordinate and federate resources in Europe to efficiently address the scholarly communication needs of European researchers in the field of SSH. OPERAS’ aim is to make Open Science a reality for research in the SSH and achieve a scholarly communication system where knowledge produced in the SSH benefits researchers, academics, students and more generally the whole society across Europe and worldwide, without barriers.
