Vale David Malouf AO FAHA 1934 – 2026

An internationally renowned author, poet, essayist and librettist, David was elected to the Academy in 1989.

His many distinguished honours and awards included an Order of Australia, the Neustadt International Prize for Literature, the Miles Franklin Award, election as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and an Australia Council Award for a Lifetime Achievement in Australian Literature.

We extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. He will be greatly missed.
