Registrations are now open for the Academy’s 49th Symposium and annual Fellows’ events

Australian Academy of the Humanities 2018-12-04

Registrations are now open for this year’s Symposium and annual Fellows’ events.

Early-bird registrations for the Symposium close Friday 31 August 2018.

This year’s Symposium will be held 15-16 November 2018 at the State Library of NSW, Sydney.  Clash of Civilisations? Where are we now? will explore modern and ancient cross-cultural encounters and their contemporary implications in the spheres of history, politics, and religion, as well as their cultural expressions in literature, film, and the arts.

A key feature of this year’s program will be the early career researcher poster presentations providing an opportunity to showcase some dynamic and innovative research by the next generation of humanities scholars.

Registrations are also open for the annual events and meetings of the Academy.  The Fellows’ Dinner will commence with pre-dinner drinks and the Charter Book signing at 6:30pm Friday 16 November 2018. Our venue is The Tea Room at the iconic Queen Victoria Building, George Street in Sydney.

Section Meetings will be held 16 and 17 November 2018, and the Annual General Meeting from 1:30pm Saturday 17 November at the State Library of NSW. Further details are posted in the Fellows’ Area of our website [log-in required].

More details of the Symposium program, speakers, public lectures, and annual Fellows’ events are on our website.
