Australian Academy of the Humanities 2020-02-28

Applications are now open for the Australian Research Council’s (ARC) Special Research Initiative (SRI) for projects addressing Australian history, culture and society. Applications must be submitted via the ARC’s Research Management System and will close Wednesday 22 April 2020 with projects to be awarded and funding commencing in 2020.

The new SRI is a strategic $12M investment to enable research of fundamental importance to Australia’s future and its place in the region and the world.

This is a major opportunity for humanities researchers across the career range. The scheme will support research “in a range of diverse areas of Australian life including community, institutions, literature, art, music, philosophy, language, media, politics and geography”.

The new scheme features:

  • Funding between $20,000 and $100,000 per year for up to three years.
  • Support for a range of research activities, including data collection, digitisation and network building.
  • Teaching relief as an eligible cost (up to a total of $50,000 per year).
