FireEye is the Intelligent Choice for Symantec Replacement
FireEye Stories 2020-11-20
Broadcom’s announcement of their acquisition of the Symantec enterprise security business has raised questions about the future for Symantec customers and partners.
Broadcom has stated that they will be focusing on Global 2000 organizations with their endpoint security, web security, and DLP solutions. Broadcom has also signaled their intent to scale down investments in the Symatec email security, threat intelligence, and managed services portfolio, and that they plan significant reductions in R&D, sales and customer support.
Current customers of Symantec Email Security, DeepSight Intelligence, and Managed Security Services are faced with an uncertain future and lack of focus from Broadcom. For many of them, the acquisition of Symantec is an urgent call to re-evaluate their security program.
What should Symantec customers consider?
FireEye believes all security programs should be intelligence-led, based on in-depth knowledge of the attackers and their motivations and techniques. FireEye has spent over a decade building a global threat intelligence capability based on machine, adversary, victim, and campaign intelligence. This knowledge fuels the ability of FireEye to detect, assess, and stop the threats that competitors continue to miss.
Email continues to be the #1 threat vector for compromises in organizations. The award-winning FireEye Email Security detects threats missed by other traditional signature- and policy-based solutions. FireEye learns new tactics from frontline investigations and observations of adversaries and creates Indicators of Compromise (IOCs) to detect these tactics. These IOCs, as well as our deep adversarial, machine, and victim intelligence, help customers quickly identify risks, track attack activity, block phishing attempts, and minimize false positives.
Symantec DeepSight customers should consider FireEye Threat Intelligence, recognized by Forrester as the only leader in external threat intelligence. The FireEye Threat Intelligence portfolio consists of subscriptions and services designed to enhance security effectiveness, improve decision making and reduce business risk. Users of DeepSight Technical Intelligence can use FireEye Operational and Vulnerability subscriptions, while DeepSight Adversary Intelligence users can apply FireEye finished intelligence to understand adversary techniques and make proactive, informed decisions.
To effectively defend against today’s sophisticated attacks, organizations need advanced threat detection and response services. FireEye Managed Defense is an analyst-driven managed detection and response service that provides 24x7 protection against threats, combining frontline experience with industry-leading technology and intelligence. Managed Defense analysts detect, investigate, and proactively hunt to identify threats early and help prevent security incidents. If a breach does occur, analysts provide comprehensive assessments along with customized remediation recommendations, delivering the context needed to respond quickly and help reduce the impact of an incident.
Even though Broadcom will continue focusing on endpoint security, their track record of acquiring companies and then targeting only enterprises may leave many customers without an endpoint solution fit for their needs. With that in mind, it may be time to consider replacing Symantec Enterprise Protection with FireEye Endpoint Security to ensure clients are using a solution trusted by FireEye Mandiant’s industry-leading incident response teams that delivers advanced detection powered by frontline intelligence.
What should you do?
Evaluate how well your security solutions currently provide the protection your organization needs and if Symantec is the solution for your future. FireEye offers several options for clients to evaluate their security, ranging from Mandiant Red Team exercises to Verodin security validation.
