Simplifying SIEM with SIEM as a Service, Featuring Expertise from Gartner

FireEye Stories 2022-05-23

Customers have long been frustrated with legacy security information and event management (SIEM) technology. SIEMs were built to serve the compliance use case, so customers are often unable to detect today’s increasingly sophisticated threats. Additionally, implementation costs often exceed three to five times the initial software purchase, and many users spend more time maintaining than using their SIEM.

In its Innovation Insight for SIEM as a Service report, information technology research and advisory company Gartner states that security information and event management technology delivered as a service offers the opportunity to simplify and reduce the time to implement, administer, maintain and scale SIEM solutions, while reducing licensing complexity, compared with on-premises versions.

Download the Gartner Innovation Insights for SIEM as a Service report to:

  • Understand the differences between fully managed security services to on-premises SIEM solutions, and multiple variations in between.
  • Learn how implementation efficiencies are affected by an as-a-service approach.
  • Identify a list of benefits, uses and providers to consider when securing or renewing a SIEM solution.

In the report, Gartner states that “by 2020, 25% of new security information and event management (SIEM) technology implementations will be delivered as a service, which is a substantial increase from 5% today”.

We believe recognition from Gartner as a ‘representative provider’ so early in transition to SIEM as a Service is clear validation of our vision and strategy for FireEye’s Threat Analytics Platform (TAP).

Since its inception, FireEye TAP has been laser-focused on disrupting the SIEM market by providing advanced detection and investigation capabilities, extending far beyond those offered by traditional SIEM providers. If required, security practitioners may create custom rules to supplement TAP’s security analytics and detection rulesets.
