Summary:

Google translate: "...1. Communiqué of the G7 Science Ministers The science ministers of the G7 member states met from 12 to 14 June 2022 as part of Germany’s G7 presidency . The meeting concluded with a communiqué , which included a three-chapter annex . In the second of these three chapters, the science ministers reaffirm the relevance attributed to the open science paradigm: “We, as G7 members, commit to working together to uphold the principles that underpin effective international research collaboration in science and research. Our shared and common principles provide the foundational basis for practices that preserve and protect open and reciprocal research collaborations, while managing known and evolving risks.” Explicit reference is made to efforts to make research data FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) and, in this context, to strengthen open science infrastructures....

10. France launches a central platform for research data

On July 08, 2022 , the French Minister for Higher Education and Research, Sylvie Retailleau, launched the new Recherche Data Gouv platform . As a central ecosystem for promoting the potential of research data in France, Recherche Data Gouv aims to provide a trustworthy technical infrastructure for the storage, availability, collaborative reuse and visibility of research data. The platform aims to ensure compliance with the FAIR principles for research data while allowing French researchers to retain control of their own research data. The implementation of the project is part of the second French National Plan for Open Science .

11. New projects started to promote FAIR Data in the EOSC

In June 2022, several projects funded by the European Commission through the Horizon Europe framework program were launched to promote the sustainable implementation of the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) within the framework of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). .

The FAIR-IMPACT project "Expanding FAIR solutions across EOSC" is based, among other things, on the results of FAIRsFAIR and other H2020 projects and initiatives. The practices, strategies, tools and technical specifications developed within the framework of FAIR-IMPACT are aimed at researchers, repository managers, research organizations, political decision-makers and citizen scientists, among others. The focus is on persistent identifiers (PIDs), metadata, ontologies, metrics, certification and interoperability. The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is involved in this project via the re3data service , the register for research data repositories.

The FAIRCORE4EOSC project will provide nine new core components for the EOSC to apply the FAIR principles in everyday research and close the gaps identified in the EOSC SRIA . Specifically, these components will provide an EOSC PID infrastructure, an EOSC infrastructure for research software, and support for sharing and accessing metadata schemas. Modern search services are also to be developed for all EOSC repositories.

Led by CODATA and with the Research Data Alliance (RDA) as the central partner organisation, the WorldFAIR project will work with a series of case studies to advance the implementation of the FAIR principles, particularly in relation to interoperability. Recommendations are to be developed and a framework created for the "FAIR Assessment" in various disciplines. 19 partner organizations from all over the world are working together on the project, including research institutions from Africa, Australasia, Europe and North and South America...."
