Software Developer (m/f/d)
The position is limited to two years. The regular working week is 39.8 hours (full-time). The position is basically suitable for part-time work. Depending on qualifications (Bachelor's/FH diploma or Master's/University diploma), the position will be graded in pay group 12 or 13 TV-L.
Your tasks
The Open Science Lab (OSL) at TIB is concerned with the development towards digital, open and collaborative science and supports scientific institutions and communities by developing and testing methods and software tools together with them that are useful for research activities.
We are looking for a communicative, well-structured and innovative person with a strong technical background to work in the projects OPTIMETA (Strengthening Open Access Publishing through Open Citation and Spatiotemporal Metadata) and TextTransfer II (Method for corpus-based prediction of impact patterns in scientific texts), which are funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
In the joint project OPTIMETA, the transfer of citation information from Open Access journals to openly accessible data sources is to be realised. To this end, an OJS plugin is to be developed with which authors and editors can create or extract citation data during the publication process of an article, validate it if necessary and transmit it to open, freely licensed data sources with the publication of the article.
In the TextTransfer II joint project, TIB has set itself the task of demonstrating new ways of publishing and discovering research reports (https://tib.eu/dtf) in prototype form. One focus is on template-based submission workflows for research reports based on Fidus Writer as well as interactive tools for discovering research reports in DSpace.
Your tasks will focus on
Development of the citation plugin for OPTIMETA
Realisation of data transfer to open data sources such as Wikidata or Open Citations
Supporting open access journals in the implementation of the plugin
Implementation of submission workflows for research reports based on Fidus Writer
Implementation of interactive tools for discovering research reports in DSpace
Enhancements to the back-end workflow of Fidus Writer, including improved archiving of structured documents in Git repositories
Participation in scientific and professional discourse as well as collaboration in national and international committees and working groups for the further development of project-relevant topics
Your profile
Completed university studies (Bachelor/FH-Diploma or Master/University Diploma or equivalent) in a relevant field of study such as computer science, business informatics, mathematics or similar
Very good experience in software development in the environment of web-based applications (PHP, JavaScript)
High degree of self-organisation and independent working skills
Very good written and spoken English
Ability to work in a team
Project management skills
Good knowledge of data aggregation, integration and transformation
Willingness to learn new technologies and languages
Desirable
Knowledge of publication tools such as Open Journal Systems, DSpace or Fidus Writer
Interest in working in a research and library environment
Knowledge of persistent identifiers in the scientific environment such as DOI, ORCID and ROR
Very good communication skills
