Abstract "The paper is devoted to understanding the new paradigm of scientific research – the open science approach. Despite the widespread using of this term in various publications, projects, studies, the conceptual setting of open science have often understood in a simplified way at the scientific community. Sometimes “openness” means only free access to scientific publications, although open publications do not cover all the requirements and functions of the developing paradigm.  Based on his own experience in biomedical research and reviewing the scientific projects in the research ethics committee, as well as putting on international recommendations and documents, the author highlights the multidimensionality of the concept of open science, considers the relevance of open data, dissemination of research results in society, and engagement of social communities to the scientific research. The specific of open science in the biomedical field is emphasized in the paper. The author offers practical recommendations for the reviewing of scientific projects in the context of a new paradigm to research ethics committees, and outlines the main directions of open science development policy in modern society. "
